I am a Western Pennsylvania girl. I was born and raised outside of Pittsburgh, went to Penn State, and then returned to the area after graduation. There is so much beauty, history, and heritage in Western Pennsylvania, so why not celebrate it?

UnitedHealthcare is currently highlighting the sense of pride that us Western Pennsylvanians have with the West PA Pride campaign. Want to get involved? (Hint: It’s easy!) All it takes to enter the West PA Pride contest is to take and submit a photo of yourself being active and/or healthy in the city you love.

Be creative with your photos. Do you love doing yoga? Maybe take a picture of you doing a yoga position in front of a city landmark. Love hiking? Maybe snap a pic of yourself on your favorite trail. The possibilities are endless. If you happen to be stumped for an activity, don’t worry, UnitedHealthcare has you covered with that too.

Through January, there are a number of healthy events taking place in cities throughout Western Pennsylvania including:

  • November 27 — Turkey Trot; Pittsburgh YMCA
  • December 5 — WTAE-TV Project Bundle Up Telethon
  • December 6 — Holiday Party; Uniontown Fire Department Social Hall

All events are free and open to the public. Plus, if you take a picture of yourself and upload it to the West PA Pride site, you could win a $100 VISA gift card! Additionally, each week UnitedHealthcare will be giving away a $25 VISA gift card to the individual with the best healthy activity photo. At the end of the campaign, one grand prize winner will win a $400 VISA gift card!

In addition to encouraging Western Pennsylvanians to get healthy and get active, UnitedHealthcare has you covered in other ways. They offer affordable health insurance plans which provide in-network access to UPMC, Allegheny Health Network, and every other hospital in Western Pennsylvania. This provides the peace of mind that no matter what, you will have access to the healthcare you need.

While you are there, don’t forget to upload your photo for a chance to win!
