I recently had the opportunity to review some baby products from MAM. My son already had a MAM teether and he loved it, so I was really excited to try some of their other products. Needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed!
In 1976, MAM began making baby pacifiers. Since then their product line has expanded to include bottles, teethers and oral care. One of my absolute favorite products that I had the opportunity to review was the MAM Anti-colic bottle. When my son was born, I used Dr. Brown’s bottles, and although I liked them there were some drawbacks. The Dr. Brown’s bottles have a narrow top and the straw apparatus that draws the air away from the bottle nipple is a pain to wash. The MAM bottle, however, also has a vented bottom that draws the air away so that the baby doesn’t suck in a lot of air.
The great thing about the MAM bottle was that it doesn’t have a lot of little parts that need to be washed separately, just the bottle, nipple, and nipple ring. The bottle is also self-sterilizing instead of having to buy a special sterilizer. The best part though, was that not only did my son like drinking from it, the bottle was chubby enough for him to hold himself.
I also loved the fact that the bottle had a wide mouth to it. My son was never able to breastfeed so for the first 8 weeks I pumped and fed him a bottle, and after that I switched to just using formula. The bottles with the narrow openings are often difficult to get the powdered formula into, and if you are pouring in stored milk you will have to use a funnel to get the milk in. With this bottle I don’t have to worry about either.
In addition to the bottle my son loves the Bite and Brush teether. The teether has soft silicone nubs on it so it soothes as well as brushes baby’s first teeth. After my son got his first teeth, I would put the training toothpaste on the teether and brush it over his gums. Now this is his favorite teether and he “brushes” his teeth all the time. The teether has been a great transition to him actually using a toothbrush, and as his teeth continue to come in it is a great way to soothe his gums.
