CocaColaBurlapWreathThere is something about the start of summer that brings this sense of nostalgia. A certain place, or even a certain song can bring back memories. I can still hear songs that were summer hits from years ago and can remember where I was or what I was doing when I first heard when the songs years ago.

When I saw the new Coca-Cola™ Share a Coke and a Song bottles I knew they would be perfect for the start of summer. Just browsing through the bottles I came across lyrics from songs from events such as school dances, summer parties with friends, slow dances, and more. It was like a walk down memory lane right there in the cooler isle at CVS!

I found a few bottles with lyrics I liked so I could incorporate the bottles into a fun summer-themed burlap wreath.

CokeWreathMaterialsI hadn’t made up a summer wreath for the house yet so I knew that this could be the perfect opportunity to design something really cute. So in addition to picking up several Coca-Cola bottles at CVS I also purchased an 18″ wire wreath frame, two 10-yard rolls of burlap ribbon, and some black and silver craft foam.

You will want to begin by making the burlap wreath. Turn the wire frame over so it is face down and tie a knot on the bottom rung of the frame. Turn the frame right side up, and you will want to start pulling loops of burlap through the rungs until you are at the top.

At the top twist the burlap to secure it and start again on the first rung beside it. You will want to keep doing this until the entire frame has been filled. This will take 10 or 15 minutes but it is a great opportunity to enjoy one of your bottles of Coca-Cola. Don’t worry, you will need the empty bottle in the next step anyway.

CokeBottleOnWreathAfter the wreath is complete it is time to start cutting out the musical notes from the craft foam. I just drew the outline of several musical notes on the craft foam and cut it out using a craft knife. I did some of the notes in black and some in silver. Using a hot glue gun I then the empty Coca-Cola bottle to the burlap and attached the musical notes to the outside of the bottle. I glued some silver musical notes to the burlap at the top of the bottle so it looked as if they were coming out of the bottle.

BurlapBowOnWreathI finished off the look with a red chevron striped bow and attached it to the other side of the wreath.

Now all that was left was to hang up the wreath and enjoy the great memories that it invokes every time I look at it.

  1. What a cute wreath. Thanks for the detailed tutorial, I love the looks of the burlap and it doesn’t look too difficult to pull off with a little time. 🙂 {client|
