CloudPets1My husband has to travel a lot for his job. In fact, it isn’t unusual for him to be on the road two or three days a week. This separation is not only hard on our boys, but it is also hard on Mike (my husband). He feels that he is missing out on some of those special moments such as telling the boys he loves them or tucking them into bed at night.

CloudPets Father Son
Daddy and Baby R share a special moment.

We have been looking for a way for him to feel more connected to the boys even while he is traveling. Baby R can’t talk on the phone (he can’t talk at all!) and neither one has the attention span to video chat. When I saw an advertisement on TV for CloudPets™, I knew that it could be the perfect solution to our situation. Instead of my husband sending the boys voicemails or text messages, now he can send them heartfelt messages through something they love — a stuffed animal!

CloudPets™ are a new, one-of-a-kind stuffed animal that keeps loved ones in touch, even when they are far away, through recorded messages. Right now, CloudPets™ are only available in select Walmarts, however they should be available nationwide soon. In fact, when we were at Walmart the other day we happened upon one of the displays so I decided to let the boys pick one out. I guess we were lucky enough to have them available in our local store.

CloudPets8There are several different CloudPets™ animals including a Teddy Bear, Puppy, Kitty, Bunny, or the Walmart Exclusive Unicorn. The boys ended up settling on the black and white kitty and named it Carrot. CloudPets™ need three AA batteries so I picked up a pack of batteries which were right there on the display.

CloudPets3Of course, as soon as we got home the boys wanted to take Carrot out of the box and set it up. It was much easier to set up than I thought it would be. All you have to do is download the free app (available from the App or Google Play stores), register your pet, and then invite friends and family to send messages to the pet. You can find full instructions and videos on setting up your new CloudPets™ through the CloudPets™ website.

When I bought the pet I didn’t realize that other family and friends can send the boys’s CloudPet™ pet a message as long as they have the CloudPets™ app installed (don’t worry, there are parental controls which allow you to choose who can send your child messages). This is great because my boys are very close to my parents and sister. This means that Nana and Pap can send the boys messages telling them “I love you” and my sister can even send messages to the boys when she is away at college! Whenever the pet’s heart starts flashing you will know that it has a message.

The kitty CloudPet™ (Carrot) seems to fit right in with all of the boys' other stuffed animals.

This got me thinking about all of the other cute ways that you could use CloudPets™. It would be really nice for grandparents to give to grandkids who live far away, or for a parent who is in the military to keep in touch while deployed. It could be used for teens to ask that special girl (or guy) to a dance, or for  even as a way to propose. The ideas really are endless.

CloudPets™ at WalmartGotta have one? Head over to your local Walmart and look for the CloudPet™ display either near the registers or in the toy section. Then, start sending the private message link to all of your friends and family!

Comment On: Who would you send a message to with the new CloudPets™? Would you give one to your kids, grandkids, or maybe even someone else?
