Tailgating has always been, and still is, one of my favorite parts of college football season. It is a great way to get together with friends and family to cheer on the team you love.

I went to a big football school, so going to games was something we did religiously every Saturday in the fall. I have so many great memories from those games!

It’s been years since I’ve been in college but I like keeping my football traditions alive. Even if we can’t get to the fried I try to get in at least one get-together at home with friends and family.

One of my most memorable tailgates, however, was during my senior year of college when my family game to visit. My school’s team was doing phenomenal after several years in a slump. We tailgated before the game with some delicious foods that my parents brought (yeah for home cooked food!) and got to enjoy some of the pregame field games as well as just enjoy the atmosphere.

My sister is 10 years younger than me, so it was fun showing her around the school. Did I mention that she ended up going to the same school as I did? I like to think it was because of her experience of visiting for the games!

As much as I enjoy tailgating, there is so much more than just going to the store to pick up the items. Sure you can purchase your product mindlessly, but have you ever thought about what goes into making those products?

Being from Pennsylvania, there is a lot of oil and gas activity here, and I didn’t know a whole lot about its impact until recently.

Products made from the oil and gas industrial are everywhere — even effecting how we tailgate at the big game. I honestly had no idea that tailgate essentials such as grilling gear, polyester jerseys, and even the rubber air bladder in footballs are all derived from petroleum. Pretty much anything made from plastic, rubber, synthetic fibers, vinyl, and even asphalt are all from petroleum. Who knew?

It’s amazing how much the oil and gas industry affects our daily lives. Look Beyond what you think you might know about the oil and gas industry and discover how much our daily lives, as well as the products we buy, are impacted by the oil and gas industry.

I’m looking forward to another great year of tailgating and enjoying it with the kids. No matter what sort of fun we have, though, it is important to remember the industry that has helped create so many things we use in our lives.

Take a moment to Look Beyond what you think you know about the oil and gas industry and find out how important it is to our everyday lives.
