I bought a new (to me) house two years ago. I purchased the home knowing that there were some things with the plumbing that needed upgrading, but since they weren’t emergencies I put off getting to them. That is, of course, until some of my pipes started leaking.

It wasn’t a major leak, but definitely something to be concerned about, especially since it was obvious that the pipe had a clamp on it, so it must have leaked before. Before a small problem became much bigger, I decided that I needed to call in a professional.

I chose Benjamin Franklin Plumbing® to come and help me out with the situation. Part of the Direct Energy family of brands, Benjamin Franklin is an independently owned and operated plumbing service with locations around the country. I trust Benjamin Franklin for my plumbing needs not only because I know that they will provide highly-skilled, expertly-trained plumbers, but also because the service is backed by an On Time guarantee and endorsed by UWIN®, a consumer service resource that allows home services contractors to provide an extra level of protection and peace of mind to the residential consumers for which they provide services.

What I also love about Benjamin Franklin Plumbing is that the plumbers that you hire are not only dependable professionals but they are also clean, courteous, and background checked. This is important to me when I am home alone with my kids while they are working.

I called Benjamin Franklin on a Thursday and they told me that they could be there the next day to take a look, and if need be, start the work. I was so impressed that they were that quick. As I said, the leak wasn’t an emergency yet, but I wanted to get it handled before it was an emergency.

When the plumbers came out, I showed them the pipe that was of concern. In addition, I expressed my concern that my washing machine did not have a shut-off lever and asked if that could be added in.

Another item of concern, that I didn’t even know about, was the amount of water pressure that was coming into my house. The plumbers noted that I didn’t have a pressure regulator on my lines and offered to check my pressure to find out if it was too high. Normal water pressure should be between 50 and 70 psi, and mine was reading 120 psi.

When there is too much pressure coming into a house it can lead to excessive wear and tear on the faucets and fixtures, as well as cause pipes to leak. The plumbers recommended that I add a pressure regulator to my main water line to bring the excessive pressure under control.

I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently the plumbers worked. After we agreed on the work that needed to be done, they went and got the supplies, and got straight to work. In fact, the work was completely done by the end of the day.

Once everything was finished I not only had my leaking pipe fixed, but also a faucet on a wash tub, the shut-off valve for the washer, and the pressure regulator on the main line.

In case of any future emergencies, I have Benjamin Franklin’s card pinned to my bulletin board. I will definitely be choosing them for any future projects. To find a location near you, visit their website or call 855-BEN-1776.
