Each year I struggle with what to get my mom for Mother’s Day. I mean, what do you get someone who has been such a huge part of your life? Someone who is responsible for giving you life, taking care of you, and shaping you into who you are today. I think about all of the fantastic things that I could buy my mom, all of the money I could spend, but the truth is, sometimes something handmade is the best present.
My mother loves chocolate covered strawberries. I could always go to the candy store, buy a box of strawberries and give it to her, but why not make them yourself? You can get way more strawberries than you would get from the store, but for just a fraction of the price. The best part is that you can even get your kids involved in the project!
As I said, making the chocolate covered strawberries is very easy.
You will need Wilton meltable chocolate wafers, strawberries (of course!), a glass measuring cup, non-stick foil, and a decorating bottle.
Place the meltable wafers in the glass measuring cup. The amount of wafers you need will depend on how many strawberries you are making. Start by putting the wafers in the microwave at half power for one minute. Then, continue heating the wafers in 30 second increments until all of the chocolate is melted.
After melting the chocolate, dip the strawberry into the chocolate and gently rotate it until the entire strawberry is covered with chocolate.
Then, place the strawberry on the non-stick foil and allow it to cool.
