Make Home Buying Easier With DIY Repairs

Moving can be a difficult endeavor. I’ve moved quite a few times over the last decade and a half. The most challenging move happened almost three years ago after my husband suddenly died. Due to the circumstances, my boys and I had to move.

I was living with my parents so the need to find a new home was great. Luckily, something came up quickly and I was able to purchase the home quickly. Purchasing the home was just the beginning. After I purchased the new home, I (and my family) had a lot of renovations to do before I even moved in.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know how to do much around the house and I had a lot to learn. In addition to learning basic home repairs, I also had to learn to do basic maintenance around my house. This includes cutting grass, shoveling snow, and changing furnace filters. Sure, I could pay someone to do those things but as a single mom on a limited budget, it made more sense to learn to do it myself.

In fact, when you move into a new house it’s the perfect time to check the furnace filters. Dirty filters can lead to allergies — or worse.

As I said before, one of the things I learned to do myself was to replace my furnace filters. This is surprisingly easy and is fairly inexpensive. In fact, you can purchase your filters from your local Sam’s Club. 3M Filtrete filters are $8 off now through November 25th with Sam’s Club Instant Savings.

Most people think of Sam’s Club as a great place to stock the pantry, but they are also a great place to also purchase items for your home and vehicle. I’ve had a Sam’s Club membership for over 10 years and I shop there frequently.

It’s easy to sign up for a Sam’s Club membership. You can even do it online. Just visit the Sam’s Club website.

Moving can be stressful but by learning to do some things on your own it can help the process go more smoothly.
