I remember when Little E was born. I pretty much packed anything and everything in my diaper bag. This subsequently meant that the diaper bag probably weighed about 50 pounds! It was hard to know what I needed and what I didn’t.The second time around with Baby R I think I learned a lot and was able to streamline my diaper bag some. This is why I have come up with a list of 8 diaper bag essentials that every new mom should have in her diaper bag.

Diaper Bag: This seems like a given, but choosing the right diaper bag is essential. Long straps, backpacks, cross-body, large, and small sizes — there are so many styles of diaper bags that you are sure to find one that works for you.

Diapers: You never want to be out and about and have a “diaper emergency”, meaning that you are without a fresh diaper. This is why I always keep 5 or 6 diapers on hand at any given time.

Changing Pad: No matter where you have to do a diaper change, you want to make sure that there is a clean surface to change your baby. This is why you should keep a simple changing pad in your diaper bag.

Diaper Cream: You never know when diaper rash will strike, and it isn’t always when you are at home. Keep a small tube of diaper cream in your diaper bag just in case.

Sanitizer: Keep some sanitizer wipes in the diaper bag’s pocket. These will come in handy for wiping tables, little hands, and even your hands!

Bottle or Sippy Cup: Sometimes errands run long or you are out later than you thought. If you have a spare, clean bottle or sippy in your diaper bad, you can mix up some formula (those remeasured packets are great!) or buy a bottle of milk or juice if your child gets hungry or thirsty.

Snacks: Keep some packages of snacks or a baggie of Cheerios in the diaper bag. This is perfect to hold your hungry little one over until you get home, or even to keep them occupied while you are shopping.

Wipes: Whether you have an infant, toddler, or even an older child you are absolutely going to want to have a stash of wipes on hand. These absolutely will come in handy for wiping hands and faces, cleaning up messes, and even wiping down strollers, car seats, and even your car.

I don’t like bringing a full wipes package along with us, because it can get heavy after a while. This is why I love the Huggies Natural Care wipes Clutch n’ Clean. You can put 1/3 of the wipes in the clutch and then toss it in the diaper bag. I especially love this exclusive Sam’s Club clutch design since the design can be for either girls or boys. This design was the winning design based on members’ votes which is pretty fun.

The clutch comes as a free bonus with the Huggies Natural Care Baby Wipes Refill (864 ct.) box. What is even better is that through November 20, you can get $10 off instantly when you purchase a box of Natural Care Baby Wipes Refill (with the free clutch) as well as a box of Huggies diapers! You can’t beat that!
