americanhomefall_titleIt’s the little things. In my new house I have a fireplace and mantle for the first time. Needless to say, I am excited about having a mantel to decorate for the first time.

I wanted to create a fall mantel that combines the colors of autumn with traditional fall elements. Of course, all mantelscapes need a nice wreath to anchor the decor. Since, of course, this is a fall-themed design so I decided to make a burlap wreath. This gives that rustic autumn theme that I’m going for.

You will need to few supplies including a 12″ wire wreath frame, two 10-yard rolls of burlap ribbon, and some floral wire.

MakingWreathStep1You will want to begin by making the burlap wreath. Turn the wire frame over so it is face down and secure the burlap using the floral wire to the bottom rung of the frame. Turn the frame right side up, and you will want to start pulling loops of burlap through the rungs until you are at the top.

garlandonmantleI added some autumn leaf garland to the edges of the mantel. I also found two small hay bales at Walmart which I knew would be perfect for on the fall mantel as they aren’t too big but give the feeling of being at the pumpkin patch. I also added a few small craft pumpkins to the mix.

glasspumpkinSeveral years ago I made some candy corn-inspired candle holders and mason jars. (You can check out the full tutorial HERE). I placed these on the mantel as well.

For the finishing touch I added several American Home™ by Yankee Candle® that I purchased from Walmart. These candles provide an amazing scent while the glass jars give my fall mantel that classic look I’m looking for.

americanhomecandleI chose the Pumpkin Apple Harvest and Apple Cinnamon Cider. Both fragrances are inspired by real life. Some other amazing seasonal scents include Sugar Coated Cinnamon, Fresh Balsam Fir, and Sweet & Salty Caramel.

What I love about these candles is that it is a clean burn from start to finish. American Home™ by Yankee Candle® offers high quality, rich, and long-lasting fragrances.

americanhome_storepictureThe best part is these candles are available in the home section of your local Walmart so it is easy and convenient to purchase.

While the American Home™ by Yankee Candle candles are great, be sure to always use them safely. This means burning your candle on a heat resistant surface, keep it out of drafts, and never leave the candle unattended when lit.

  1. Balsam FIr has always been a favorite fragrance, since we don’t naturally have it here in Southern California. Your mantel turned out great! #client
