Moll Anderson Embracing ColorWhat is it about color that is so powerful? It can not only transform or brighten a room, but it can also change your mood, your family, and even your well-being. No one knows this better than Moll Anderson, inspirational interior designer and author of the new book Change Your Home, Change Your Life With Color: What’s Your Color Story? by Moll Anderson. In this book, Moll adds the dimension of color to her commonsense design and lifestyle advice.

EMPOWERINGREDThroughout this journal-style book, Moll highlights a fresh, modern approach to creating colorful spaces. In fact, she highlights thirteen colors in individual chapters in order to determine what colors you have an emotional reaction to and how this reaction impacts our moods, behaviors, and emotions.

The book couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Last summer I bought a new house after the death of my husband. I needed a fresh start for my boys and I. The problem was that in the flurry of activity to just get the house ready to move into, I didn’t have much time to get creative with color. This means I moved in with the house being done in neutrals and with primarily blank walls.

In the past, I have been somewhat afraid of color. I stuck with neutrals such as beige, white, off-white — you get the picture. I didn’t want to make the “wrong” choice or go with anything that is too bold. I was even very conservative with accents such as lamps, artwork, and throw pillows. I chose functional over something that really spoke to me.

UPLIFTINGPINKMoll’s book highlights a fresh, modern approach to creating colorful spaces using vibrant, colorful photographs. It will also help you to discover which colors your resonate with the most. (I am #UPLIFTINGPINK and #EMPOWERINGRED!)

MollAndersonBookWithPaintAfter reading this book I realized I have been hiding. I have been hiding my true personality and my love of color behind what is “safe.” I decided since this house is dedicated to making a fresh start, it is time that I start making a fresh start when it comes to color as well. I have been motivated to take a good look at how I’ve decorated some of my rooms, as well as rooms that still have to be decorated, and take the plunge into color. This could be through a paintbrush, or even drawing inspiration from Moll’s “pops of color” which are ways to add pops of color to change the mood of your space, your wardrobe, and even your life.

Moll Anderson’s book Change Your Home, Change Your Life With Color: What’s Your Color Story? will be available at Target, as well as MollAnderson.com, Amazon, B&N, and anywhere else that books are sold online, beginning March 14, 2017.
