LinenClosetAfter_title2I recently purchased a new house. This house has been updated in quite some time, which means that I pretty much have a blank slate to work with. I have been going through the house one room at a time doing updates and decorating.

The upstairs linen closet was one of those areas that needed a little love. It can be easy to overlook these areas — who really sees them anyway? The problem is that when you don’t have any sort of organization system in place, an area can just become a catch-all.

In my previous house I had a much bigger linen closet which made it even more imperative that I organize and maximize the space that I do have.

To prepare for this linen closet refresh, the boys and I headed to Target for some goodies. Since it is back-to-school and back-to-college time, there are even more amazing products designed to make your home more organized, more stylish, and more fun!

We picked up these great storage boxes and lids, small lidded storages boxes, and shelf liner paper. I also decided to pick up a new shower curtain for the guest bathroom since at this point all I had was a shower liner.

ShelfAndPaperPaperOnShelfI began by removing the old shelf liner that was on the current shelf. It was a really bad faux wood-looking liner which had to go. I found some great grey chevron-print shelf liner. After removing the old liner paper I put the new paper on. It instantly gave the linen closet a new look.

PlasticBinNext, I got the plastic bins with the lids that I had bought. These are perfect for storing miscellaneous items. In one of them I stored our first aid kit; another held samples and mini toiletries; and the third has toothpastes, linens, and mouthwashes. Having these boxes makes things look so much neater and the lids keep everything inside hidden.

I used the two small lidded boxes with the latches to store small items such as lightbulbs and even things like toothbrushes.

BeforeAfterLinenCloset2I also used some other bins and that I already had to organize paper products, towels, and cleaning products. Once I was done, everything was in its place.

So, I was on a roll at this point.

Bathroom BeforeCollageBathroom AfterCollageThe upstairs guest bathroom also needed a little love. I had bought a great white, grey, and yellow shower curtain during the Target trip. Until then, I had just been using a plain white liner. Once I got the new curtain up, the whole room was transformed!
