Baby in Pink and Orange Baby Spring FloatI have been comfortable around water for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my grandparents had a swimming pool which I used starting when I was a toddler in water wings. With the encouragement of my parents, as well as swimming lessons, I became very confident around water.

I have swam in swimming pools, rivers, and lakes and have always felt comfortable due to the fact that I was a good swimmer. This is something that I want to pass on.

Now that I have two children of my own I want them to feel as comfortable around water as I was. One of the ways I have done this is to introduce them to water, as well as teach them that water is fun, from a young age. We did this through trips to the pool, water park, and even using the water table.

Helping to encourage children to learn to swim is one of the reasons that SwimWays started the National Learn to Swim Day back in 2012. This year SwimWays is sponsoring its fifth annual National Learn to Swim Day on May 21, 2016. This day is dedicated to educating parents and children about the importance of water safety as well as the importance of learning to swim.

This is particularly timely as pools are beginning to open for the summer and it is important to make as many parents and caregivers as possible aware of this invaluable (and lifesaving!) life skill.

SpringFloatSpringFloat2One of the ways that I introduced my boys to the water was with the SwimWays Baby Spring Float. The Baby Spring Float is the single best float on the market and features a mesh seat as well as a positionable sun shade. I also love that the sun shade detaches so that if you are using the float in an indoor pool the shade doesn’t get in the way.

I love the Baby Spring Float so much, in fact, I have used it with both of my boys and in a variety of settings: hotel pools, friend’s pools, and even at the beach.
