bestitalianmeatballsWell, the inevitable has happened. Fall has finally arrived in Pennsylvania, and with it is colder temperatures. We are officially in cozy sweaters and boots season.

Unfortunately, this also means that the days of being able to pick up food at a farmers’ market, or even better, at the farm, are pretty much over.

This season is also ushering in a time of hot and hearty meals such as soups, sauces, and other delicious foods. I decided to make one of my favorite falls meals is spaghetti and Italian meatballs so I headed over to Walmart to pick up the ingredients, including fresh produce and Prego Farmers’ Market® sauces. Not only is it delicious, but it also only takes 30 minutes to make!

Making Hearty Italian Meatballs and Spaghetti

You will want to begin with the following ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices of Italian bread
  • 2 Tbsp finely chopped parsley
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup bread crumbs

This may sound strangle, but you will begin by soaking the four slices of Italian bread in water. Once you have soaked the bread you will want to squeeze out as much water as possible. Place it in a mixing bowl.

You will also want to combine your meat, bread crumbs, cheese, eggs, parsley, and seasonings into the same mixing bowl as the bread. Mix until it is well combined.

Preheat the over to 375 degrees. Place the cookie rack in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.

The Prego Farmers’ Market® sauce is made with the kind of ingredients you’d find at your local farmers’ market such as vine-ripened tomatoes, garlic, and basil — all picked at the peak for an irresistible taste.

This is such a hearty recipe, especially on cold fall and winter days. You can even use these meatballs and the Prego Farmers’ Market sauce for a meatball sandwich if spaghetti isn’t your thing.
