readingparty_titleSince they were young, my boys have loved reading. Each night before bed, they rush to their bookcases to pick out a bedtime story that we read together.

Now that Little E is in school he is beginning to learn to read. I am particularly excited about this because I’ve always been a reader and I look forward to passing this on to my son.

To help build excitement for reading and to celebrate Little E’s reading milestones, I decided to throw a love of reading party — complete with some of his favorite books.

readbannerThe purpose of this party is to celebrate reading — whether it is reading to your children, your child learning to read on his or her own, or maybe to celebrate a reading milestone. I began with a chalkboard banner that simply says “READ.”

Of course, with any good book, you need a good drink which is why I filled some glass milk bottles with milk and topped it off with some cute paper straws.

gummybookwormsI also added some reading-themed “Bookworms” in the form of gummy worms in a bucket as well as a bowl of red (sticking with the turquoise and red theme) gumballs to the table.

readingtablescapeI picked out five of Little E’s favorite books: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; Froggy Bakes A Cake; The Donut Chef; If You Give a Mouse A Cookie; and the Bernstein Bears Go To the Doctor. I designed little stations with themed treats around each one.

onefishtwofishI began with the One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish book which I placed alongside a container of Swedish Fish to symbolize the “red fish” in the book.

readingcakeSince a party isn’t complete without a cake, I purchased a confetti cake and placed candles on it that spelled “READ.” I paired it with the Froggy Bakes a Cake book.

giveamouseacookieLittle E particularly loves the book If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and the books in that series, so of course I had to add that book to the party. The book and a plate of cookies!

thedonutchefEven though the party was actually in the afternoon, after school, I wanted to include the Donut Chef book as it is one that encourages early reading. So I added that book as well as a plate of donuts to the party.

We all know that with the state of school also comes the exposure to new germs. This is why its important to proactively guard against illness and stock up on items to help keep your family feeling their best. This is why for the reading station with the Bernstein Bears Go To The Doctor book I chose to feature some health and wellness products, and even picked up some extras for the guests to take home!

pfizerproductsberensteinbearbooksSince the book focuses not only on going to the doctor, but also on keeping yourself healthy, I decided to chose some products that ever family should have in their medicine cabinets. This includes Advil® Liqui-Gels®, Centrum® Multi-benefit Multi-Gummies® for adults, Children’s Robitussin®, Emergen-C®, and Chapstick® in Cake Batter flavor.

Work on preventing illness by regularly taking the new Centrum® Multi-benefit Multi-Gummies®. New Centrum® MultiGummies® for Men and Women. So advanced, they have more Vitamin D3 than any other men’s or women’s gummy^ (^Among leading men’s and women’s gummy multivitamins.). You can also keep your immune system healthy by taking Emergen-C®. Emergen-C® is packed with B vitamins, electrolytes, more vitamin C than 10 oranges^ and other antioxidants†. With over 20 flavors, you have plenty of delicious varieties to choose from.*  (Based on the USDA.gov nutrient database value for a large, raw orange. †Zinc and Manganese* These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.)

If coughs and colds do strike your home, it is important to have Children’s Robitussin® and Advil® Liqui-Gels® on hand. There is nothing faster on tough pain than Advil® Liquid-Gels® (among OTC pain relievers. Use as directed) and a cough doesn’t stand a chance with Children’s Robitussin® (use as directed.).

Lastly, ever home with school-aged children should have some Chapstick® on hand. In fact, I have already noticed the boys getting chapped lips so far this year. I found some Cake Batter flavored Chapstick® which the boys love, and I love that it moisturizes & softens for smooth lips everyday.

pfizerproductscollageYou can pick up all of these items, as well as everything else you need to prepare for cold and flu during back to school season Just be sure to stop in the health care and pharmacy section for all of the products I mentioned.

  1. What a fun back to school party idea! I love that the books are incorporated into the table decor. We’re already on back to school cold # 4 in this house, so restocking our cabinet with these products is high on my list of to-do’s! #client
