HersheyHalloweenMost people think that as someone who loves crafts as much as I do, that my favorite holiday for crafting is Christmas. Would you be surprised if I told you that isn’t the case? Sure, I love Christmas crafts, but so does pretty much everyone else. What I really love, however, is Halloween.

Maybe because my birthday is in October I’ve always seen it as a special month, or maybe because of Trick-or-Treating and Halloween parties it seemed like another way to express my creativity. Whatever the reason, I’ve embraced the Halloween holiday and love coming up with new and different creations each year.

This year is no different. There are so many types of Halloween candy out there (and frankly, I could have at least one of each in a single sitting — at least until the sugar rush or stomach ache kicked in) so I wanted to come up with a way to enjoy all of these types of candies all at once. Therefore, I bring you — Halloween Candy Boo Bark!

How to Make Halloween Candy Boo Bark

Halloween_Candy_Boo_BarkSo what is better than a Hershey bar, Kit Kat, Reese’s, or candy corn? How about a Hershey’s bar, Kit Kat, Reese’s, AND candy corn all on one delicious piece of chocolate?

Inspired by the holiday favorite, peppermint bark, I decided to combine some of the family’s favorite candy into one delicious treat. All you need is a candy mold (I chose ones in the shape of a tombstone), meltable chocolate wafers, and your favorite Halloween candy

Cut_Up_CandyCoarsely chop the candy into small pieces. For mine, I kept the candies in separate piles, but only because I can’t eat peanut butter due to migraines. Otherwise, you can just mix all of the candies together.

Once you have chopped the candy you will need to melt the chocolate wafers. Put a handful of wafers in a microwave-safe container and microwave in 30-second increments. You want to make sure not to burn them.

After you have melted the chocolate, pour it into the candy mold. Jiggle the mold so that the chocolate fills the entire cavity of the mold. This will also remove any air bubbles.

Chocolate_in_MoldAfter filling the molds, sprinkle the candy pieces on top. After sprinkling the candy, use a fork to gently press the candy into the chocolate. You can also add in sprinkles to make the bark look a little more festive.

After you are done decorating your bark, put the molds in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the chocolate to cool and harden. Once the chocolate has hardened, remove it from the refrigerator and gently twist the mold in order to remove the candy.

Once you are done you will have some adorable Halloween Candy Boo Bark!

Printable Halloween Joke Cards

Screen Shot 2015-09-30 at 3.46.13 PMAfter making the Boo Bark I realized that these would be perfect to take in to school for my son’s Halloween party. I decided to design some cute Halloween joke cards which you can print out and attach to a treat bag with the Boo Bark.

Since sharing is caring, I have made these joke cards into a printable so you can just print them out, cut them out and attach them to a treat bag! Plus, I made them in business card format so if you have any of the business card paper where you can just punch the cards out along the perforations this would be perfect! Download them here!

unnamed-67Whether you are planning on making any Boo Bark, or if you are just going to be passing out candy at your door on Halloween night, be sure to pick up a couple of the BIG Hershey’s Halloween candy variety bags. These are perfect for Trick-or-Treat, Trunk-or-Treat, Halloween parties, or whatever else you might have up your sleeve! You will probably want to get a couple of bags in the Halloween candy section of your local Walmart because it is always better to have too much than not enough. Plus, you have to make sure there is enough for leftovers! (Amirite?)
