KoolAid9My kids hate drinking just plain water. I am always trying different things to try and liven it up. One of their favorite ways of doing this is with Kool-Aid. The only problem is that when it comes to the traditional way of mixing Kool-Aid (mixing the packet, water, and sugar), my kids say that I am no good at it. I can never seem to get it quite right.

Kool-Aid Easy MixThankfully, for me (and my kids) Kool-Aid now has Kool-Aid Easy Mix. This version is foolproof. Really it is. All you have to do is add the liquid mix to water. You can do this to make Kool-Aid by the glass, such as when just E is wanting something to drink; or by the pitcher, which is perfect for when all three boys are thirsty!

My kids love the fact that now mommy makes a much better pitcher of Kool-Aid, and I like the fact that the Kool-Aid Easy Mix contains 50% less sugar than the leading regular sodas.

In addition, the Kool-Aid Easy Mix doesn’t have to be just used with water. In fact, one of my favorite drinks to make with the Kool-Aid Easy Mix is the Fizzy Cherry Delight.

Since there are only four ingredients, everything can easily be purchased in a single trip to Walmart as I did. Here’s what you will need:

  • Bottle of Kool-Aid Easy Mix in Cherry flavor
  • A Lemon
  • Maraschino Cherries
  • a lemon-lime soda

KoolAid3Fill a glass, or a Mason Jar in my case, with approximately eight ounces of soda.

KoolAid4You will then add 1.5 tablespoons of Kool-Aid Easy Mix Cherry to the soda.

Then add in a few maraschino cherries. For a slightly sweeter taste, add in a little of the cherries’ syrup. Right before serving, garnish with a slice of lemon.

The best thing about Kool-Aid Easy Mix is that you can use it to make either a glass or a pitcher. If you are hosting a party, this drink would make a fabulous punch.

If you are planning on making the punch, you will use the exact same ingredients as above, just in larger quantities. Instead of the eight ounces of soda, you will use a 2 liter bottle. You will then want to add 3/4 cups of the cherry Kool-Aid.

KoolAid6Then add in the cherries and slice up a whole lemon and float the slices on top. You guests can then pour right from the punch jar!

The best part is that since the punch is nonalcoholic, so it is perfect for both kids and adults!

KoolAid5You can pick up any of the three flavors (Fruit Punch, Grape, or Cherry) of Kool-Aid Easy Mix at your local Walmart. Just look for them in the drink mix section.

In addition, when E and I went to pick up our drink mix for the recipe, we had the opportunity to check out a Kool-Aid Easy Mix demo and try out some of the flavors. Needless to say, E certainly enjoyed it. I’m pretty sure all of the flavors were his favorite!

What are some of your favorite summer mocktails?
