It’s football season! One of the things I enjoy most about football season is the opportunity to get family and friends together for a football party. Being from Pittsburgh, we are obviously having Steelers football parties!

Having these parties is such a great way to keep in touch with our family and friends. Many of our friends have kids, and with three kids of our own, it can be hard to coordinate schedules. So, when we do have the time to get together we take advantage of it! A great party requires some planning, though, and these tips can help you make the most of your party — while still staying sane!

Do One Stop Shopping (Ready!)

Plates, napkins, drinks, cleaning supplies, AND decorations? You can get all of these things in one place — Family Dollar! Family Dollar offers name brand products at a great value. Looking for game day foods such as Pepsi, Lays, Tostitos, Doritos, or Chewy Granola? Family Dollar makes it easy for you to get in, get out, and get back to what matters most: spending time with your family and friends on Game Day.

Clean Smart, Not Harder (Set!)

I know that when I am having company over, I am cleaning for days. I’m making sure all the laundry is done and put away, furniture is dusted, and dishes are washed. And guess what? Family Dollar carries everything you need to get your house in tip-top shape! The best part is that many of these products help make your cleaning job easier. Swiffer makes both sweepers and dusters to keep your floors and furniture clean, Febreze keeps the house smelling nice, and of course Bounty paper towels help clean up any spills (which with kids are pretty much inevitable!).

Have a Great Time (Party!)

Of course you probably want to do a little bit of decorating before your party, but of course you don’t want to spend a fortune. For money savvy party planners like me, you are in luck! You can print out this fun Welcome Banner that you can display at your home as well as some fun team pennants.

The welcome banner is customizable so you can add whatever you would like to it!

If you are like us and are having kids at your party you might want to think ahead for some activities for the kids to do. For our party I went online ahead of time and printed out some Steelers helmet coloring pages. I made several copies so all of the kids could have one. You could even pick up some little prizes when you are at Dollar General and hold a coloring contest!

There are other teams available other than the Steelers in both the coloring pages as well as the pennants, but seriously, who would NOT want a Steelers printable? 😉

I like college football – given I now live in Ann Arbor (home of the “Big House”) and previously lived in Austin (Hook’em Horns) – so preparing for a big football game day is easy when you feel the electricity in the air. You just want to make sure you shop BEFORE the big day b/c traffic on game day is insane

  8. We invite all of our family and friends over to watch the game, purchase a variety of chips, dips and drinks and well as making othe appetizers such as hot wings and mini tacos.
