You Were Always in My Heart

I have a special place in my heart for those who choose to adopt a child. This is probably because my own parents have gone through this process in order to adopt my sister. Adoption can be heart wrenching and expensive, but those who choose to take that journey are seriously angels to those children that need homes.

You Were Always in My Heart, by Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman, is a cute story about adoption told through the eyes of a ladybug. The ladybug, Dot, meets Shaoey when she has just been born and stays with her as she goes to an orphanage and eventually on to an adoptive family. This book is based loosely on the actual experiences of the Chapman family adopting their own children from China.

As a mom myself, it absolutely broke my heart when I read the part about all of the babies waiting for mommies. I actually had tears in my eyes. I know that I love my son so much and the thought that there are so many others like him without homes makes me so sad. What makes me hopeful though is that there are so many out there with huge hearts that can provide these children with a home.

If you, or someone you know, has experienced the joy of adoption, this would be a perfect book to read to the adopted child. It would even be a wonderful gift! I have a special treat for my readers, you can win one of your very own copies of this book. Read it to your own children or give it as a gift.

  1. A distant cousin of mine and his wife adopted two girls with Down Syndrome from eastern Europe through Reece’s Rainbow. They are such an inspiration! God has been working on my heart, I’m just waiting for Him to do a little more work on my hubs. 🙂
