The phone on the left is a new one that I bought for E, and the one on the right was mine from when I was a child.

I bought E a Fisher Price phone pull toy shortly after he was born. In fact, I had a very similar phone when I was young (my parents actually still have it!). When I took it out of the box I made a comment to my husband, M, that when E gets older he will probably have no idea what sort of a phone that is!

Do you remember rotary phones? My parents had one until I was about in first grade and I remember my friends were always confused about how to use it. It would take so long to dial it too, and heaven forbid you wouldn’t get the number the whole way around or you would have to start all over! I was so happy the day that my parents bought a regular push button phone. Even that one had one of the long coiled cords that attached it to the wall.

E is going to grow up and not have any clue what any of these “antique” devices his parents grew up with are!

What are some items that you grew up with that your children have no idea what they are?
